Start with “How a Garden Saves the Earth”, a full color, 24-page children’s book about kids growing their own fruits and vegetables. It also simplistically explains the importance of locally grown, sustainable food and how it is connected to their health and that of the planet.

Each child gets to plant organic snap peas in their own biodegradable pot. Kids can monitor their growth inside of the mini-greenhouse that sits on the windowsill. When ready, they can put the plants - pot and all - in the ground or in a container and wait for the harvest! Homeschoolers can reuse the greenhouse year after year.

The Teacher Resource Pack includes blackline masters and instructions for PreK-3 homeschoolers. The complete lesson embodies standards-based learning in science, mathematics and language arts through relevant, hands-on activities.
